Your parents — maybe grandparents too — are flying in to see you at Stanford, Berkeley, San Jose State, Santa Clara, or UC Davis. Maybe it's move-in day and they're helping you settle in. Maybe it's Family Weekend, or graduation, or they just want to see where you've been living all year. Whatever the occasion, you're the one who has to make it work: pick a flight time, figure out the drive from the airport, plan how everyone gets from the hotel to campus and back, and do it all in a way your parents — who may not speak a word of English — can actually navigate.
This is exactly what HuaRenRental handles. One Mandarin-speaking driver, for the whole visit — not a different rideshare app for every leg. Your family is met at the airport, driven to campus, taken to dinner, brought back to the hotel, and returned to the airport at the end, all in fluent Mandarin, with a driver who already understands what a university family visit actually looks like.
This page covers every occasion that brings a Chinese-speaking family to a Bay Area campus: move-in day, Family Weekend, graduation, and ordinary visits during the school year — plus how airport pickup fits into all of them. If you're planning a visit purely to tour campus before applying, our Stanford & Palo Alto campus tour page is built for that instead.
Landing with a family full of luggage and a dorm room to fill — here's how it goes
Move-in day means more luggage than a normal visit and a tight arrival window your school assigns you. Tell us your flight number and your assigned move-in time, and your driver plans the route accordingly — including the reality that dorm loading zones are congested and time-limited on move-in day itself, so we build in the right vehicle size from the start rather than discovering it's too small at the curb.
Yes — many families ask for a stop at Target or IKEA on the way to the dorm, or right after drop-off, to pick up bedding, storage bins, or anything that didn't make the flight. Mention this when you book and Mandy will build the stop into your quote; it's a normal and welcome addition to a move-in booking, not a special request.
A weekend of campus events, meals, and hotel transfers — one driver for all of it
Family Weekend is a multi-stop, multi-day occasion — hotel to campus in the morning, campus to a restaurant for dinner, hotel again at night, and the same pattern the next day before an airport drop-off. Booking this as separate rides is exactly the kind of thing that goes wrong when everyone's trying to coordinate a rideshare app in a second language. Book it as one visit instead, and the same Mandarin-speaking driver handles the whole weekend.
Stanford is on the quarter system, so it holds Family Weekend twice a year — once in the fall and again in late February — which means more opportunities to visit than a typical semester school, and more reason to have a driver who already knows the campus (our Stanford & Palo Alto page covers the campus in tourism depth if you want to combine the visit with sightseeing).
Each school sets its own Family Weekend date, typically in the fall — check with your student for the exact weekend, then send it to us via WeChat and we'll confirm availability. Berkeley in particular draws heavy traffic on its Family Weekend and graduation dates, so earlier booking is genuinely worth it there.
The biggest visit of all — bigger groups, bigger vehicles, once in four years
Graduation weekend usually means more family than any other visit — parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, all flying in for the one occasion nobody wants to miss. It's also the highest-demand weekend on any Bay Area campus calendar, which means booking early matters more here than for any other occasion on this page.
Our network of 28+ vetted Mandarin-speaking drivers means we can field multiple graduation-weekend bookings without a scheduling problem. A small family fits comfortably in a Tesla or Sienna; extended family flying in together typically needs a Sprinter (up to 14 passengers); and for a large multi-generational group, we bring in a 27-seat minibus or, for the biggest gatherings, a full 56-seat coach.
Not every visit is a big occasion — and that's fine
Sometimes your parents just want to see you, with no Family Weekend or graduation attached to the trip — a long weekend, a holiday break, or simply because they haven't seen you in a while. The same Mandarin-speaking driver network covers these visits exactly the same way: airport pickup, time on campus or around the Bay Area together, and a return trip at the end. There's no minimum occasion required to book.
Every visit above starts with an airport arrival — here's how that fits in
Whichever occasion brings your family here, the visit starts the same way: a flight lands at SFO, OAK, or SJC, and your family needs a Mandarin-speaking driver waiting for them. Rather than duplicate that here, book the airport leg as part of your overall visit quote, or see our full SFO, OAK & SJC airport transfer page for terminal-by-terminal detail, flight-delay policy, and meet-and-greet specifics. SJC is the closest airport for South Bay schools — San Jose State, Santa Clara, and Stanford.
