The whole extended family, flying in for the one weekend you can't miss. Large vehicles, one Mandarin-speaking driver, and the local knowledge to get everyone from the airport to the stadium — even where campus shuttles won't take you.

Move-in day is usually just parents. Family Weekend might be one or two people. Graduation is different — grandparents, aunts, uncles, sometimes cousins, all flying in together for the one ceremony nobody wants to miss. That means more people, more luggage, and a much harder coordination problem than any other visit covered on our university family visit page.
It's also the highest-demand weekend on any Bay Area campus calendar. Our network of 28+ vetted Mandarin-speaking drivers means we can field multiple extended-family bookings the same weekend — but graduation dates get booked up faster than any other occasion we serve, so this page exists to give it the depth it needs.
This is exactly the kind of university graduation transportation for Chinese families that generic charter-bus directories don't address well — they'll rent you a bus, but they won't tell you that Berkeley's shuttle requires a student ID, or that Stanford expects guests to arrange their own transportation. Chinese speaking graduation transportation means your grandparents never have to navigate any of this in a second language, and a Sprinter van for a university graduation family booking is quoted as one trip, not several separate rides.
Once your student's graduation date is set, that's the moment to book — especially for larger vehicles. A Sprinter, 27-seat minibus, or 56-seat coach for an extended family has limited availability on graduation weekends specifically, and Stanford, Berkeley, and San Jose State all hold Commencement within the same few-week window each spring, which compounds the demand.
Real logistics, not generic advice — most of this isn't published anywhere else in one place
Commencement Weekend 2026 runs June 11–14. Stanford's own guest information is direct about this: guests are responsible for arranging their own transportation. The free Marguerite shuttle only runs fixed routes between parking lots, Caltrain, and the stadium — it doesn't cover SFO, OAK, or SJC.
Berkeley's on-campus shuttle, BearTransit, requires a valid student or staff ID — visiting family cannot use it at all, full stop. Parking during Commencement is also its own separate headache, per Berkeley's own event parking guidance.
Both hold Commencement on more compact, walkable campuses than Stanford or Berkeley — but parking is still constrained on ceremony day, and a private driver means your family isn't circling for a spot while trying to make a ceremony start time.
Furthest from the Bay Area proper (about 1 hour from SF), which makes graduation weekend here more likely to involve an overnight stay — exactly the kind of multi-day, hotel-to-campus booking we quote as one combined trip rather than separate rides.
